Raffia Handwoven Beach Bag
A raffia beach bag with a soft body and a natural finish.
Raffia bags woven by hand in natural raffia — a long, supple palm fibre that folds cleanly and holds colour. Three production styles, each a starting point for your size, lining, handle drop and finish. Order a small batch from 100 pcs per style, or request a sample first.
Raffia arrives as long ribbons rather than flat straw strips. It is split and graded before weaving, and the strips are supple enough to fold at the edge and spring back — which is why a raffia bag keeps a soft body and a clean top line.
The fibre also takes dye well, so raffia handbags can be matched to a colour card. Most of the cost sits in that preparation: fresh fibre arrives at roughly 40% moisture, dries down to a fraction of its delivered weight, and 25–30% of the graded material does not reach the bench.
Compared with paper straw, raffia is softer and more forgiving; compared with seagrass, it is lighter and more flexible. Which one fits a range depends on the structure you want, not only the price.
Four steps sit between the delivered fibre and a packed raffia bag. Each one changes the price, so a quote that skips them is not comparable with one that does not.
Raffia is not machine washable. Spot-clean with a damp cloth and dry flat, away from direct heat; a soft brush lifts dust from the weave.

A raffia clutch with a soft fold and a natural surface.
The fibre changes; the construction does not. A raffia tote bag uses the same base, handle attachment and lining options as our straw totes, and the same applies to buckets, baskets, beach bags and evening clutches. A raffia beach bag keeps the open weave and soft body; a raffia clutch folds without cracking.

A raffia bag is quoted from the specification, not from a photo alone. Six lines are enough for us to price and sample a style:
Raffia is a ribbon fibre taken from the raffia palm: the strips are long, supple and take dye well. Paper straw and wheat straw arrive as flatter, firmer strips. Raffia gives a softer body and a cleaner fold; straw gives a crisper structure at a lower material cost.
Yes. Natural raffia is the default; dyed lots are quoted per colour, and the dye-lot minimum is confirmed on the brief because every strand in a repeat has to match.
100 pcs per style. Mixed structures and textile cord constructions can run 100-300 pcs depending on the cord.
Yes. Sampling is 10-15 days. The sample fee is quoted per style and credited toward the bulk invoice once the order reaches MOQ.
Leather handles and trim are available on request. Leather patch labels are confirmed before sampling, because the material source affects the quote.
