Raffia colour, handles and lining

Natural raffia is the default. Dyed lots are quoted per colour, and the dye-lot minimum is confirmed on the brief, because every strand in a repeat has to match.

Handles can be woven raffia, textile cord or leather on request; leather patches are confirmed before sampling, since the material source affects the quote. Lining is cotton or polyester, with zip or magnetic closure.

MOQ is 100 pcs per style. Sampling is 10–15 days; production lead time is 30–45 days. Raffia bags wholesale orders ship in 5-ply export cartons, double-bagged in breathable dust covers.

How raffia is graded before weaving

Raffia arrives as long ribbons with a high moisture content. Fresh fibre comes in at roughly 40% moisture; dry it and one kilogram yields somewhere between 200 and 600 grams of usable dry fibre, depending on the delivery, the season and how it was handled. Grading then removes short, discoloured and off-width strands — another 25–30% of the raw material does not reach the bench.

That preparation is why two quotes for raffia can sit far apart: one is priced on the usable strip, the other on delivered weight with a better assumed yield. We quote on the usable strip.

Colour is approved against a physical card before weaving, because every strand in a repeat has to match. Packing follows the same logic: raffia bags are packed flat, double-bagged in breathable dust covers and boxed in 5-ply export cartons. Compression in transit is normal for soft raffia; the bag recovers its line once unpacked and lightly stuffed.

Send the silhouette, size, handle type and drop, lining and closure, colour reference, branding, quantity and ship window — eight lines are enough for a costed quote within 24 hours.

Common questions

What is the MOQ for wholesale raffia bags?

Our baseline production minimum is 100 pcs per style. For synthetic and textile cord constructions the MOQ is 100–300 pcs, depending on the cord type. Minimums can be negotiated by collection or by individual style.

Can you dye to our brand colour?

Yes. Fibre lots are dyed to your colour card in matched lots.

What lead times apply?

Counter-sampling takes 10–15 days from receipt of technical specifications and material approval. Standard bulk production is 30–45 days from final sample sign-off; 45–60 days where custom dyeing or new hardware tooling is required.
